Are you an urban analytics expert interested in working on a world-class project on urban inequalities related to segregation and mobility?

We are looking for an urban analytics expert with interest in urban inequalities related to segregation and mobility to join the SIMETRI (SustaInable Mobility and Equality in mega-ciTy RegIons: patterns, mechanisms and governance) Project team as a postdoctoral research assistant (full- time, 12 months contract).

You will work with an international team of researchers from the UK (Birkbeck University of London, University College London), the Netherlands (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and China (Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Institute of Research and Innovation Shenzhen Institute of Research and Innovation - University of Hong Kong, and Sun Yat-sen University).

The SIMETRI project aims to develop a world-class science platform relevant to political decision-makers responsible for housing, transport, employment and urban development in the world's biggest mega-city region, the Pearl River Delta Greater Bay Area. The platform integrates work on inequality indicators and predicting future land use and transport developed in Western Europe in London and the Randstad with related work in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, producing a system that will use state-of-the-art simulation models, big data from routine transport, and new ways of using information technology for participatory governance.

You will work on the development of spatio-social indicators of mobility, accessibility, segregation, and inequality associated with scenarios for spatial development in the study areas in collaboration with researchers across the project team.

You must hold a PhD in GI Science, Geographic Data Science, Urban Planning, Geography or related area; have proven experience in the application of spatial analysis to urban systems, and be proficient with programming languages such as Python and R.

Remuneration:

Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which is at £39,173 rising to £44,775 per annum.

The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
